Pipe-in-pipe heat exchangers

Pipe-in-pipe coolers are used to cool wort or wine to the required temperature. They are a structure in which one pipe is placed in another, of a larger diameter. The pipes are covered with thermal insulation on top. A coolant, usually ethylene glycol, circulates between the pipes. The product moves through the inner pipe and gives off heat to the coolant. Freon refrigeration units are used to cool the coolant.
